Kuwait’s largest urban park follows the line of the old city wall: shaded walks, lakes and gardens laid over roads and car parks, with two museums about the country’s nature and its martyrs.

Al Shaheed — “the martyr” — Park runs along the Soor (Wall) streets where Kuwait’s last city wall once stood. The first phase opened in 2015 and the second in 2017, and much of it is built as a green roof over roads and parking, one of the largest of its kind in the world.

Planted largely with native and drought-adapted species, the park has walking and jogging tracks, lakes, botanical gardens and play areas. The Habitat Museum explores Kuwait’s desert and marine ecosystems, and the Remembrance Museum honours those who gave their lives for the country.

The park is part of the Kuwait National Cultural District and is a favourite place for an evening walk in the cooler months.
