On the Gulf shore, this vast complex brings together museums of natural history, science, space and Arab-Islamic science — interactive, family-friendly and air-conditioned, ideal for a hot afternoon.
Inaugurated in early 2018 and owned by the Amiri Diwan, the centre is named after Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the ruler who led Kuwait to independence in 1961 and is remembered as the founder of modern Kuwait.
Its main components are the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Space Museum, the Arabic Islamic Science Museum and a Fine Arts Centre with a theatre, linked by landscaped public spaces. Exhibits run from the Gulf’s marine life to space exploration and the golden age of Arab and Muslim scholarship.
Together with the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre and Al Shaheed Park, it forms the Kuwait National Cultural District, one of the largest cultural investments anywhere.
Good to know
- Allow at least half a day; you will not see everything in one visit.
