Set in a traditional-style house in Hawalli, Bait Al-Othman brings together several small museums about Kuwaiti life before and after oil — from the family home and the souq to Kuwait’s beloved TV dramas.
Inaugurated in April 2013, the museum complex includes the Kuwait House Museum, a Heritage Hall, a recreated Kuwaiti souq, a “Journey of Life” museum and the Kuwait Drama Museum, which celebrates the radio and television series watched across the Gulf.
Rooms are filled with pre-oil household objects, crafts, dhow models and memorabilia, and the courtyard and lanes make it easy to imagine life in an old Kuwaiti neighbourhood. Classic cars from Kuwait’s vintage car museum are often displayed outside.
