Near the Saudi border, a network of man-made waterways and lagoons has turned Al Khiran into Kuwait’s favourite weekend escape, with chalets, boating and a waterfront mall.
Sabah Al-Ahmad Sea City is a large development of canals and lagoons cut into the desert coast, lined with homes and beach chalets. Many Kuwaiti families keep a chalet here and spend weekends on the water.
Al Khiran Mall and its waterfront are the area’s public focus, while the calm, shallow lagoons suit paddleboarding, kayaking and jet-skiing.
