In a residential street in Qadsiya, the artist Lidia Al-Qattan spent four decades covering her family home in mirror mosaic — a dazzling, deeply personal house museum visited by appointment.
Lidia Al-Qattan, an Italian-born artist, married the Kuwaiti painter Khalifa Al-Qattan and began decorating their home in the 1960s. Over the following decades tonnes of mirror fragments came to cover the walls, ceilings, floors and even furniture, arranged into suns, moons, stars and Arabic motifs.
The ground floor works as a gallery of mosaic rooms; upstairs, rooms are devoted to the paintings of Khalifa Al-Qattan, a pioneer of modern art in Kuwait.
This is a private home: visits are by appointment only, arranged through the official website.
